andre louis of tbrn has decided to be generous in offering me the first of a series of free shoutcast servers on tbrn bandwidth.
when i feel like it or when other people i choose to give the password around to feel like it go to tbrn.net:8016 for our streams.
just email him at andre@tbrn.net for your own.
generally you get it free for 90 days if you promote the network during this time and then a reduced fee after this period.
go have fun!
I would be careful there guys! He is only on a 30Mb line, lets say you have a 128kbps stream up, you can only get 240 on that connection before it has used the whole bandwidth. Now lets say you have 10 servers, that limits you down to 24 listeners each! Not very appealing really is it! Now lets tocuch on the domain name, tbrn.net is actually a sub domain of dqinternet.com. According to an anonymous source, it is said that "we believe that subdomains are quicker looking up than top level domain names". This is not the case, it is quicker to lookup the top level (as you would expect) and then the sub domains, making access slow to the server. Still interested in this offer? Also remember this, you will never get 30Mb. Its measured in megaits not megabytes. This is the line speed divided by the baud rate (8), so 30 / 8 = 3.75Mb.
I run servers and also sell shoutcast server to people and let me tell you that each of my servers has no more than 5 shoutcast servers on it and they are also on dedicated ports.
I suppose you have to remeber that your getting a "free" for 90 days service as long as you promote their network.....Catch 22! My advice to you all is to go with my service, or if you dont feel comfortable with that as you think i'm stirring shit (just saving you the bother of having lots of trouble), then go with a professional host.
